This pool will be valid for a period of 12 months and suitable applicants may be considered for appointment to similar at level vacancies as they arise.

About the Role
The center is seeking to employ an energetic and progressive fire engineering technician and fire engineers who can demonstrate a logical approach to the challenges of fire safety within the built environment. The successful applicant will be one that satisfies the essential job requirements, can think strategically, and shows good judgment, intelligence, and common sense.
The Fire Engineering Technician and Engineer provides professional advice, expertise and engineering guidance in all matters of structural fire safety to support and enhance the operational expertise of the department.
The Fire Engineering Technician undertakes assessment of existing and proposed buildings and other infrastructure projects, under the guidance of the Fire Engineers, whilst applying fire engineering concepts, relevant fire safety codes and other measures to ensure adequate standards of fire safety.
To be successful in this position you will need to have well developed communication skills and be able to interact confidently with colleagues and clients to deliver advice, solutions, and projects effectively. You will work with the team of fire engineers, building fire safety officers, direct brigade alarm staff and will have contact with operational firefighters and other specialist officers.
Evidence of a current WA Drivers Licence (C Class minimum).
- A maximum two (2) page statement addressing the following essential criteria in the context of the position responsibilities contained in the attached job description forms.
- Effective communication skills and demonstrated ability to negotiate and consult with staff, peers, industry groups, clients, volunteers and other Government agencies.
- Demonstrated experience with building fire safety systems, design, performance criteria and fire engineering concepts and principles to achieve effective fire safety outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience in applying relevant Standards, Building Codes, statutory Acts and Regulations to fire safety engineering assessments and plan submissions of building projects in a performance-based context.
- A current comprehensive CV that clearly demonstrates your relevant competencies and experiences, including the names of two referees who can attest to your suitability to this role.
- Evidence of your eligibility to work in Australia (Visa applicants only).
Note: If you want to be considered for the Specified Calling Level 4 Fire Engineer position, you must also provide evidence with your application of a Bachelor or Masters in a relevant field of engineering accredited to the Washington Accord and published by Engineers Australia’s Australian Engineering Accreditation Centre and, if the degree is not in fire engineering, a Graduate Diploma in fire engineering or a Master of fire engineering.
